6 Weeks to Easier Walking, Improved Balance and Equanimity

Starting June 18, 2025 at 12 noon ET on Zoom.

If you’re suffering from back or neck pain, your movement habits as well as the stress and anxiety held in your body may be contributing to your discomfort. And your body speaks its mind!

The Feldenkrais Method® aims to retrain your habits of moving, feeling and thinking by guiding you through a series of slow “lessons” called Awareness Through Movement®, designed to encourage greater flexibility and coordination. Ever thought how your back pain may originate in your hips and pelvis?

The classes and workshops will emphasize the importance of doing less and slowing down, and adding variation and curiosity to everything you do. You will also learn how to reduce anxiety and unnecessary stress – and feel much calmer and happier!

Unwinding Anxiety: The Shape of Stress, the Flow of Release

Sunday, June 29th on Zoom at 2 PM-4 PM EST

Habitual tension is exhausting. It drains our energy, restricts our breathing, and limits our freedom of movement. It’s no surprise that chronic tension is often linked to anxiety and emotional stress—and can contribute to pain, inflammation, and disorganized movement.

This workshop explores how anxiety shows up in our posture—what Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais called our acture, or action-based posture. When we repeat the same tension patterns day after day, our spine—the central axis of our being—can become rigid, twisted, and misaligned. Movement no longer flows efficiently through us; instead, strain concentrates in specific joints and vertebrae, overtaxing them and disrupting healthy function.

Through gentle Awareness Through Movement® lessons, we’ll begin to interrupt these patterns and bring more awareness, ease, and organization to how we move, stand, and breathe. Learn to shift the body pattern of anxiety from the inside out—and rediscover a calmer, more resilient sense of self.

Happy Feet: Finding Freedom and Support from the Ground Up

Sunday August 10, 2025 from 2 PM-4 PM EST on Zoom

We humans evolved to walk easily across natural terrain, where step-to-step differences are not uncommon. Our feet are our foundation—carrying us through life, shaping posture, balance, and ease of movement. Yet we rarely give them the attention they deserve. In this Feldenkrais® workshop, we’ll explore the anatomy, function, and sensation of the feet through gentle Awareness Through Movement® lessons. Discover how improving the organization of your feet can relieve strain, enhance balance, and bring vitality to your entire system – from Sole to Spine to Self!

“Often ,quite apart from the local improvement, a remarkable increase in general vitality can be observed in the student who has learned a more differentiated and varied use of his feet.” – Moshe Feldenkrais, “Higher Judo: Groundwork”

The Feldenkrais Facial: A Calming Workshop for Your Face and Nervous System

Sunday August 24, 2025 from 2 PM-4 PM EST on Zoom

Are you feeling the strain of the times—and seeing it in your face? In this soothing workshop, you’ll gently explore how to release habitual patterns of tension held in your forehead, eyes, mouth, and jaw.

We’ll focus on the seventh cranial nerve—the facial nerve—which governs expressions like smiling, frowning, and raising the eyebrows. Through guided Awareness Through Movement® lessons, you’ll learn how freeing the face can influence your entire nervous system, activating your parasympathetic “rest and digest” response for deeper calm.

You’ll also learn simple hands-on techniques and tips to maintain tone and freshness in your face—naturally. Release anxiety, soften your expression, and feel more like yourself—inside and out.

Through the Feldenkrais Method® you will learn to use movement as your tool to improve your self-image and experience yourself more fully. How we learn and form habits is of central importance in the practice of the Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education. The Feldenkrais Method® utilizes functionally based variation, innovation, and differentiation in sensory-motor activity to break down habitual patterns and allow new ways of thinking, feeling and action to emerge.
